Welbeck Windsor

The Welbeck Windsor features a handwoven rush backrest made by the incredibly talented Ella Merriman, harvested just outside of Oxford. The seat itself is made from oak felled on the Welbeck Estate where my workshop is based, cupped naturally through the air drying process which revealed a natural saddle to make a chair from. The original chainsaw marks from when it was fell have been left on the back of the seat, oxidised black over time while it dried as a reminder of its origin. The legs of the chair are made from English oak, steam-bent to portray a gentle buckle.

Finished in a white pigmented oil.
